Antique print of Thornbury Castle, a castle in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, England. It was begun in 1511 as a home for Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham. It is not a true castle (designed to serve as a fortress), but rather an early example of a Tudor country house. Antique copper-plate engraving by Francis Grose, dated in the plate 25th. March, 1784. Paper size approx. 10.75 x 8 inches. Engraved area 5 x 6 inches. A rare item in very good condition.
