Antique print of Pendennis Castle an artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII near Falmouth, Cornwall, between 1540 and 1542. It formed part of the King’s Device programme to protect against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire, and defended the Carrick Roads waterway at the mouth of the River Fal.
Original copper-plate engraved print from ‘The Antiquities of England and Wales’ by Francis Grose, dated in the plate 10th. November, 1786. Paper size approx. 11 x 7.5 inches. Excellent condition. A rare item.
