Halesowen Abbey. Antique print of Halesowen Abbey, or Hales Owen, Shropshire, England, of which only ruins remain. It was located in an exclave of the historic county of Shropshire until 1844. In that year Halesowen was transferred to Worcestershire and then in 1974 to the new West Midlands county.The abbey was founded in 1215 by Premonstratensian canons. Original copper-plate engraved print from ‘The Antiquities of England and Wales’ by Francis Grose, dated in the plate 25 March 1784. Paper size approx. 11 x 7.5 inches. Excellent condition. A rare item.
