Tixall Gatehouse. Antique print of Tixall Gatehouse, the 16th-century gatehouse situated at Tixall, near Stafford, Staffordshire is all that remains of Tixall Hall. The home of the Aston family, it was used a prison for Mary, Queen of Scots. Antique copper-plate engraving by Francis Grose, dated in the plate 11th. April, 1785. Paper size approx. 10.75 x 8 inches. Engraved area 5 x 6 inches. A rare item in very good condition.
