Tilbury Fort guarding the entrance to the River Thames, antique print published in 1801 in Thomas Pennant's 'Journey from London to the Isle of White'. English Heritage described Tilbury Fort thus: "Henry VIII built the first fort here, and Queen Elizabeth I famously rallied her army nearby to face the threat of the Armada. The present fort is much the best example of its type in England, with its circuit of moats and bastioned outworks. Paper size 12.95" x 9.75" (310 x 240mm). A scarce Georgian antique print. Note. Shadow does not appear on the original antique print which is in EXCELLENT condition.
