Orford is a small town in Suffolk, England, it was of some importance as a port and fishing village in the Middle Ages. It still has a fine mediaeval castle, built to dominate the River Ore and a listed parish church, St Bartholomew’s. The main geographical feature of the area is Orford Ness, a long, wide shingle spit at the mouth of the Ore. 

Original copper-plate engraved print from ‘The Antiquities of England and Wales’ by Francis Grose, dated in the plate 3rd. May 1785. Size of engraved area approx. 5 x6 inches. Paper size approx. 11 x 7.5 inches. A rare item in very good condition.
