Holy Sepulchre Church here described as being in Skinner Street which was, at the time of publication (1830) the fact, since the print predated the construction of the Holborn Viaduct and the renaming of the street. The two cattle in the scene reflect the close proximity of Smithfield Meat Market to the church. Since WW2 the church has been the spiritual home of the 1st. Battalion (City of London Regiment) Royal Fusiliers.
Antique print of an image by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd published 1830. Engraved area approx. 6×4 inches. A nice clean example of Thomas Shepherd’s work. Print provided mounted to 10×8 inches using conservation mount-board. A ready-to-frame antique gift.
