Poundbury Hill. Antique print of Poundbury Hill Fort, here described as Pomery or Poundbury Camp hill fort, a Middle Bronze Age enclosure. It is roughly rectangular and it is likely that it was designed to command views over the River Frome and the Frome valley to the north. The main entrance to the fort is on the eastern end. It overlooks the county town of Dorchester, Dorset.
Original copper-plate engraved print from ‘The Antiquities of England and Wales’ by Francis Grose, dated in the plate April, 1786. Paper size approx. 11 x 7.5 inches. Excellent condition. A rare item.
