Okehampton Castle a medieval motte and bailey castle in Devon, England. It was built between 1068 and 1086 by Baldwin FitzGilbert following a revolt in Devon against Norman rule, and formed the centre of the Honour of Okehampton, guarding a crossing point across the West Okement River.
Original copper-plate engraved antique print from ‘The Antiquities of England and Wales’ by Francis Grose, dated in the plate 15th. January, 1784. Paper size approx. 11 x 7.5 inches. Shadows in scanned image DO NOT appear on the original. A rare item in very good condition.
