Bloemfontein. On 14th. November 1868, ‘The Illustrated London News’ published the above woodblock engraving of Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa. The capital city of the province of Free State, South Africa, it was until the surrender of the Boers at the end of the Second Boer War in 1902, the capital of Orange Free State, an independent Boer republic. Paper size 15.75 x 10.75 inches. Crease in the top right corner (see scan.)
